Become one with the ʻĀina
Make Kamehameha Great Again has the experience you’ve been longing for. Join us as we gather together for a journey to become one with the ʻāina. Our purpose is to kōkua and mālama the ʻāina. We are coming together to do the best we can to keep waste out of unneccassary locations. We must be one voice reaching out to everyone to help the community be a independent sustainable factor.
Our Plans
From over 11 years of education learning to mālama the ʻāina is our number one concern regarding sustaining and caring for our beautiful lands. Having the love for the Honua guides us in giving the best journey. Being knowledgable through our experiences about the areas we venture out into. So no matter what we are looking for, Make Kamehameha Great Again has it. We are planning to work with one of the other groups in the class and help take care of the trash at there farmers market here on campus. We will be separating the trash between; paper/plastic waste, recyclables, and raw/cooked food. We will be traveling thought out the farmers market and clearing out and separating trash.
Problem: Here in Hawaii, there has been a growing concern in homelessness. Meaning that there is a lot of waste and trash around parks, side walks, and everywhere you could possibly think of. When people litter they don't understand the damage that it does to wild life and sea life. Especially in schools, too many students leave or forget their trash. Sometimes it is not intentional but it is still damage.
Action Taken: Our group will be attending a farmers market to support the workers in cleaning and sorting the plates, utensils, and food waste. This will help positively because it encourages people to do the right thing in maintaining a clean environment and prevent higher risks of pollution.
Planned Date: April 28, 2019
